AQA English Language Paper 1 tests both reading and writing skills.
In Section A (Reading), you answer four questions based on a fiction extract: Question 1 checks your basic understanding of the text, Question 2 asks you to analyse the writer’s use of language, Question 3 focuses on how the text is structured, and Question 4 requires you to evaluate a statement about the extract using evidence.
In Section B (Writing), Question 5 asks you to produce a piece of descriptive or narrative writing.
